Environment

                        "Oath on mother Earth"

I am a Naturalist. I am aware of the importance of trees and wild life. Being a human I got the power of thinking. I will use this exclusive ability to work for constructive purposes and not for destructive ends. I feel I have utmost role in preserving a green environment.I will practice the following eco-friendly habits through out my life.

  • I will never cause any harm in any way to plants, trees and wild life.
  • I will never pollute the environment and I will plan my daily activities in such a way so as to minimize the environment pollution.
  • I will enjoy planting a tree on the occasion of my birth day and on any other auspicious days. I will not only plant a tree but also make arrangements for the plant to grow in to a tree.
  • I will make it a hobby to gift plant or seeds.
  • I will carry my own bag while going to the market. I will minimize the usage of polythene carry bags in my daily life. And I will cooperate for recycling / reuse of materials
  • I will never waste water. I will maintain water pits in all my premises to conserve rain water.
  • I will not buy a new gadget unless I really need one.
  • I will remember to switch of all electrical appliances when not required and use them also sparingly.
  • I will try to look for organically grown food.
  • I will encourage all my relatives and friends to practice eco-friendly habits.

  •                         "How to control Global warming"

Excess levels of CO2 in atmosphere are responsible for Global warming. Burning of fuels like Coal, petrol and other petroleum products emits CO2.One of the major sources for power generation is Thermal power. In thermal power-plants coal is burned. The Heat energy liberated from coal is converted in to power. Burning of coal emits CO2 .The fuel for almost all automobiles is petrol or petroleum products. Burning of fuel emits CO2.We are becoming responsible for emitting CO2 in to the atmosphere, when consume thermal power. How we can control? Practice 3R-- Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!

  • REDUCE
  • Reduce the consumption of things which directly or indirectly affect the environment.

SAVE power: Switch off TV at electric connection. (Frequently we switch off it with remote control).Switch of the cell phone charger connection when charging process completed. While leaving the house ensure that all electric switches are turned off. Do not buy a gadget unless we really need a one. Buy energy-efficient electronics and appliances like compact fluorescent bulbs. Solar water heater is a good alternative for hot bath water.

Cut down on usage of personal cars: Use public transportation system at least once in a week. Use a bicycle for going to nearby markets.

Conserve water: Never waste water. Water is precious. In urban areas water demand is more and water sources are very less. Remember power is required to pump the water from pump house to over head tank. Waste water from clothes washing can be used for flushing toilets. It is always better to wash at least 4 pairs of clothes at a time instead of 1 or 2 clothes. Prefer to have bath under a shower than using water from bucket. Shower bath saves 50% water consumption. Installing low-flow showerheads saves more water without decreasing performance. Make arrangements in house to HARVEST RAIN WATER.

  • REUSE
  • Reuse the materials which cause environmental pollution. Reuse plastic and relevant material. Producing new paper, glass, and metal products from recycled materials saves 70 to 90 percent of the energy and pollution, including CO2 that would result if the product came from virgin materials. Carry your own bag while going for market. (Save one plastic or paper bag).Better...buys recycled products! Co-operate for recycling of material. …. Segregate waste at source level. Waste plastic material (as is not degraded in soil) must go for recycling. When recycling system is not existing usage of disposable plastic items must be minimized. Recycling a stack of newspapers only 4 feet high will save a good-sized tree.

  • RECYCLE
  • Recycling of waste saves environment and also generates income. Recycling of waste is possible only when it is segregated at source level. Segregate waste at source level :( Solid waste management is a 3 stage process. Waste segregation at source level (At individual house level), Collection of segregated waste (By municipal authority), Recycling or process of segregated waste (By process units).

First step is the responsibility of individuals of the house. Remaining two steps can be implemented only when first step is proper

Waste segregation saves energy, generates income for some people above all very helpful to maintain a clean environment. It is every citizen responsibility to segregate waste while disposing

There must be at least 2 types of waste bins for solid waste disposal. One for dry waste and another for wet waste. Dry waste includes paper or paper related products, cloth, plastic or polythene, metals. All the dry waste material can be recycled

Wet waste include vegetable peels, left over food, waste from food process, spoiled food etc. Microbes can consume these materials as food. As a result the material degraded rapidly in the soil. Wet waste is useful for producing vermi compost. This is a good alternative to chemical fertilizers. Production of chemical fertilizer consumes power and causes pollution.Vermicompost units minimize environment pollution. They do not need power.

  • Plant and maintain trees.

  • Plants consume CO2 and emit O2. Make habit of worship tress. Plant trees on the occasion of birth days and marriage days. Maintain plants in houses. It is also possible to maintain roof gardens / tower gardens in urban houses where place for planting a tree is limited. Planting shade trees around house / office will absorb CO2, and splash air-conditioning power requirements and power bills. It is possible to maintain roof garden and tower plants where place is limited like in apartments. It is a good hobby to worship trees. Gift a plant or tree. Plant a tree on the occasion of birth day and marriage day.

  • Did you Know ....

  • Our forests are home to half the world's species thatlive onland.yet over-exploitation has wiped out more than half of the world's original forest cover.

Each tone of paper saved can save

  • 17 trees produce more oxygen.
  • 1438 liters of precious oil to run our industries.
  • Three cubic yards of landfill space towards providing housing to the the homeless.
  • 4100 kilowatts of scarce energy to light up our homes.
  • Over 26497 gallons of fresh water to irrigate our farms.
  • A tree is cut for every 300 sheets of paper produced
